Pickleball Court Dimensions in Singapore: Sizes, Lines and Space You Need

Every pickleball project we have been part of starts the same way. Someone stands in an empty room with a measuring tape, mutters a number and asks whether it is enough. Let us save you the tape.

The official numbers

A standard pickleball court is 13.41 m long and 6.10 m wide. That is the same for singles and doubles. The net stands 0.914 m high at the sidelines and 0.864 m in the centre. The non volley zone, which players call the kitchen, extends 2.13 m from the net on each side. From the baseline to the kitchen line is 4.57 m. Lines are typically about 50 mm wide.

The space you actually need

Nobody plays with their back against a wall. We plan for a run off of about 1.5 m at the sides and 2.5 m behind each baseline, which gives a working footprint of around 9.14 m by 18.29 m per court. That is roughly 167 sqm for one court.

  • One court: about 167 sqm
  • Two courts side by side: about 334 sqm
  • Four courts in a two by two block: about 669 sqm

Shared run off between neighbouring courts brings these numbers down a little, but we keep the buffer generous at the start and trim during the layout.

Do not forget the ceiling

The floor plan only tells half the story. Pickleball has a lot of high lobs, so check the lowest point of the ceiling or any beam, light fitting or sprinkler pipe above the court. If it sits too low, players will hit it and rallies will stop. We always ask for the clear height at the lowest obstruction before we quote any layout.

What goes under the lines

Once the size is right, the surface decides how the court feels. Our sports vinyl flooring is laid with the court lines built into the layout, so there is no paint to chip. Installation of a typical court takes two to four working days depending on the subfloor.

Our recommendation

If your room can only take one court, ask yourself whether you can find room for two. A single court limits you to four players at a time, which is hard to run as a business or a community programme. Two courts is where most venues find their rhythm.

For wider context on community courts, see the Sport Singapore website.
